Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students in the world. What makes Key Club successful is the fact that it is a student led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. As members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and their communities. Key Club International is an organization of Individual Key Clubs and is funded by nominal dues paid by each member. Its officers are high school leaders elected by the members at district and international conventions.
Hillsborough Kiwanis Club is very proud of the two Key Clubs that the club sponsors and supports. Orange High Key Club’s School Advisor is Richard Arnold. OHS Key Club holds a fundraiser every year at the OHS’ Agricultural Fair, write letters to service people, attends the Fall Rally at Carowinds and attends the District Convention in Durham. They also help Hillsborough Kiwanis Club prepare dinner for the Durham Ronald McDonald House. This school year an OHS Key Club member was elected Lt Governor, Lily Cummings, a leadership position on the District Level.
Cedar Ridge’s Key Club School Advisor is Christina Clark.
Both Key Clubs support UNICEF and the Boys and Girls Home of NC and sometime March of Dimes. CRHS supports the Chapel Hill Ronald McDonald House by preparing breakfast for them on the weekends a couple of times a year. They also have a very successful and fun fundraiser every year, a Lip Sync Contest. This club also attends Carowinds and the District Convention. Both clubs help Hillsborough Kiwanis with the annual BBQ in the fall.
Millie Hunter is the Kiwanis Key Club Advisor for both Key Clubs. Key Club members are welcome to attend Kiwanis meetings whenever possible.
